Endoclair®

Endoclair® A DIETARY FOOD FOR SPECIAL MEDICAL PURPOSES

MASQUELIER’s® Endoclair® is a dietary food for special medical purpose. It is a powder that must be dissolved in water. Endoclair® must be used under the supervision of a doctor or dietitian and is designed specifically to fulfill the medically determined need for the nutrients provided by Endoclair® in patients suffering from microvascular complications, such as impaired circulation in the feet, legs or eyes (retinopathy). People with diabetes have an increased risk of developing these kind of microvascular complications.

Why use MASQUELIER’s® Endoclair® as a dietary food?
Scientific and clinical studies show that people who suffer from the vascular complications commonly experienced by diabetics have a medically determined need for the specific nutrients supplied by MASQUELIER’s® Endoclair®. Doctors and dietitians may recommend the use of Endoclair® as a dietary means of treating impaired microvascular circulation in the feet, legs and eyes (retinopathy).

MASQUELIER’s® Endoclair® provides simple daily dietary support!
Endoclair® consists of a powder that dissolves easily in (mineral) water. The active substance in Endoclair® is a very precisely characterised complex phytonutrient consisting of single and slightly condensed (oligomeric) forms of flavonols. The powder creates a pleasant-tasting drink that only needs to be taken once a day. Endoclair® has little or no effect on blood sugar levels and is therefore suitable for diabetics.

Benefits
Although flavanols occur in all kinds of forms in foods such as cocoa, red wine, non-seedless grapes and peanuts in their skins, it is difficult for people to modify their food intake in such a way that it can be assumed, with sufficient scientific certainty, that their diet will meet the medically determined need met by Endoclair®. As a simple and effective dietary intervention that cannot be achieved by changing normal eating habits, Endoclair® is the obvious solution.

Please note! MASQUELIER’s® Endoclair® has no effect on diabetes, but can be helpful in the management of vascular complications associated with diabetes! Endoclair® is a food for special medical purposes that is intended to be used as a dietary food. It is not meant to be used as a food replacement. Endoclair® must not be used as a foodsupplement. Endoclair® should be used under professional supervision of e.g. a doctor or dietitian.

One sachet of Endoclair® supplies 200 milligrams of monomeric and oligomeric flavanols (OPCs) and polyphenols.

INGREDIENTS
Sweeteners (isomalt, sucralose), monomeric and oligomeric flavanols and polyphenols from Vitis vinifera seeds, acidulant (citric acid), black tea extract, natural lemon flavour, anti-caking agent (tricalcium phosphate), acidity regulator (tripotassium citrate).

What are microvascular complications?
The microvascular network of the vascular system is formed by fine capillaries which are selectively permeable. This enables nutrients in the blood to be delivered to the organs and tissues, and cellular waste to be removed and transported away from the tissues. Microvascular complications are generally caused by increased capillary permeability and decreased capillary flexibility. Among other things increased permeability can cause swelling. The ability to control the movement of substances into and out of the cell is lost. Decreased capillary flexibility adversely affects circulation and can lead to bleeding or local oxygen deficiency in areas where circulation is impaired. These complications often occur in the extremities (feet, legs and eyes (retinopathy)).

Why are diabetics especially susceptible to microvascular complications?
The reasons are complicated, but, to put it simply, the excessively high blood sugar levels associated with diabetes damage blood vessels. Repeated ‘glucose stress’ on the vascular wall can lead to functional and structural problems in the small blood vessels.

Rather than using MASQUELIER’s® Endoclair®, can I simply adjust my normal diet?
No. In practice it is virtually impossible to obtain the specific bioactive nutrients supplied by MASQUELIER’s® Endoclair® from your diet. These so-called ‘flavanols’ occur mainly in the parts of fruit and vegetables (seeds, skin and peel) that are usually removed and thrown away during industrial and domestic processing. And even if you were to adjust your diet in order to increase your intake of flavanols, a ‘flavanol-rich’ diet is not guaranteed to meet the medically determined need for these vegetable compounds in the case of (diabetic) vascular complications. No scientific studies have yet been conducted to determine whether a ‘flavanol-rich’ diet provides adequate amounts of the specific nutrients required in these cases and what such a diet should consist of. Whereas the effectiveness of the specially standardised composition of flavanols contained in Endoclair® has been extensively examined and repeatedly demonstrated in several studies of people with diabetes.
